Come back to right now

An eyes-open practice of noticing your surroundings and finding one small next step.

Welcome to this grounding pause from More Than Therapy. This is a gentle invitation, and you are in charge of the pace. Choose a position that feels supported. Keep your eyes open, or soften your gaze. You can pause, skip a step, or stop at any time. If anything feels uncomfortable, look around the room and return to an ordinary activity.

Let your breathing find its own rhythm. You do not need to take a deep breath or hold your breath. Notice the space around you. Find one object with a clear edge. Notice its color, its shape, and where it sits. Give yourself a little time to look.

Now find another ordinary detail. Perhaps light on a wall, a doorway, or the texture of a table. You do not have to feel any particular way. Simply notice what is here.

If it feels comfortable, notice where your body meets a chair, a cushion, or the floor. If feeling inside your body is not helpful today, stay with an object in the room instead. Both choices count.

Listen for one sound nearby. Then notice a sound farther away. There is nothing you need to change. Take the time you need.

Name where you are, quietly or in your mind. Notice one small thing you might need next. A sip of water. More space. A conversation. Or simply a pause.

As we finish, look around once more. Move only as much as feels comfortable. You can return to this practice whenever it is useful. I am because we are.

A little room in your body

Notice support and explore optional, comfortable movement. Staying still is always an option.

Welcome to a gentle body-awareness practice from More Than Therapy. Find a supported position. You can stay still throughout this practice. Keep your eyes open if that is more comfortable. Nothing needs to be pushed, stretched, or released. Stop or skip anything that brings discomfort, dizziness, or distress.

Begin by looking around. Notice one ordinary object. Give yourself permission to stay connected to the room, rather than focusing inside your body. Let your breath move naturally, without forcing it.

If it feels okay, notice the places where you are supported. A chair beneath you. The floor beneath your feet. Or a cushion behind your back. If you use a wheelchair or another support, notice a comfortable point of contact that works for you. There is no right position.

You might gently press your feet into the floor, or rest a hand against a surface. Use only a small amount of effort. Then let that effort ease. You can also imagine the movement or remain still. Notice whether anything changes, without needing a change to happen.

If you would like, make one small, comfortable movement. Uncurl your fingers. Let your shoulders move a little. Or turn your attention back to the room. Keep every movement within an easy, pain-free range. There is no need to stretch.

Now pause. Notice a color, an edge, or a sound outside you. If body awareness does not feel helpful, this outward attention is a complete practice on its own.

Before you finish, ask yourself what would support you next. Rest, water, a different position, or connection with someone you trust. Take your time returning to your day. You get to choose what comes next.
